DustBuster and DirtDevil, some of the leading brands of hand held vacuums

There are a number of excellent hand held vacuums on the market to choose from.  Some familiar names may be the DustBuster, the DirtDevil and more.  Some things to look for when shopping for hand held vacuums are cordless versus corded.  A cordless model will provide you with more versatility on where you can go but most only last up to 5 minutes before they need recharging.

There is one hand held vacuum that lasts up to 12 minutes and that is the Dirt Tamer Deluxe.  Another feature to look for is the filter type.  If you can find a cordless hand held with a Hepa filter that is excellent.  Hepa filters are capable of catching up to 99.97% of dirt and dust so that it isn’t recycled into your home.  The Dirt Tamer Ultima actually comes with a Hepa filter.

For great performance, you want to look for hand held vacuums with good suction.  Getting a vacuum with 12 – 14 volts will help with this.  Most come in the 6 – 10 volt range but we recommend spending a bit more and getting better suction.  Most hardware stores carry a full range of hand helds so be sure to check them out there before you buy.
